“We can say without a doubt that [Ludvigsen’s article on the Ferrari 750 Monza] is the most exhaustive piece of literature available on Enzo’s fantastic four barrel, and this includes Ferrari factory literature. We guarantee that [our new technical series] will delight even the most sharp-eyed reader.” With that short paragraph, John Christy launched the long and fascinating career of Karl Ludvigsen. Sports Cars Illustrated (later Car and Driver) itself had recently been purchased by Ziff-Davis Publishing Company, intent on capturing the hobby magazine niche with a series of magazines such as Flying, Hi-Fi and Photograph.

For the second time, the Grand Palais in Paris, near the Champs-Elysées Avenue, was home for the 230 cars that took part in the 2008 Tour Auto. The cars would then head south to Marseille for more than 1100 miles through the winding roads of France.

The Grand Palais was the perfect starting point as it was also where the Salon de Paris took place under its impressive transparent roof from 1901 to 1961.

Cameron Reynolds Argetsinger, 87, Watkins Glen race founder and lawyer died peacefully, April 22, 2008, at home. He leaves his beloved wife of 67 years, Jean, their nine children, fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
