I was lucky enough to get a ride back with him from Silverstone to London in the LeMans Alfa Romeo 2900 – a memory that will remain with me. I took a whole roll of film of the car only to discover when I returned home that I had omitted to put the film in the camera!
Around that time I purchased Mike’s Monza #0504 and took it back to South Africa. A few years later it returned to the UK and was sold. I still have a number of the work invoices from Ferrari (many signed by the great man himself), for servicing the car after Agadir etc.
