Story and photos by Hugues Vanhoolandt

Every two years, the château and grounds of Chantilly hosts a new edition of the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Concours. It is difficult to find a more beautiful setting to house the most beautiful automobiles of the past and present, especially when the sun is out. This edition already marked the tenth anniversary of the creation of this event which revives the tradition of the elegance concours of the 30s and 50s, when coachbuilders unveiled their latest creations.

Imola WEC LMGT3 Class

May 6, 2024 By pete

In the LMGT3 category, Ferrari is represented by two 296s entered by AF Corse. The best of the two finished 4th in category, the best it could hope for given the domination of the two BMWs and the #92 Porsche.

Story and photos by Hugues Vanhoolandt

Throughout history, endurance races have consisted of a mix between prototypes and grand touring cars, based on commercially available vehicles. This is still the case today with the prototypes competing in the Hypercar class and the GTs in the LMGT3 category.

Organized for the 44th time, the Epoqu’Auto show in Lyon has experienced uninterrupted growth in recent years to reach a surface area of 80,000 m2 and 850 exhibitors. As every year, different themes are offered to the 95,000 visitors: Peugeot, Talbot, Cadillac but also the rally exhibition and the auction. What also gives this provincial show its charm are the numerous brand clubs presenting vehicles rarely seen elsewhere, in contrast to Retromobile in Paris where there are many more car dealers, which makes Paris a more commercial show.

Now let’s see what was shown in terms of Talbot and Peugeot.

2022 Oldtimer Grand Prix

August 29, 2022 By pete

Wolfgang von Trips was the first German driver to have a shot at becoming the a world champion. He was not forgotten, and that is why a parade in his memory was organized, including an exact replica of the Ferrari 156 with which he knew glory and tragedy.

Story and photos by Hugues Vanhoolandt

In Mid-August, the 49th Oldtimer Grand Prix took place, an event that has been held for nearly fifty years at the famous Nürburgring track. After two years of absence, the greatest classic car race meeting of Germany was back, with races for all tastes.

Races for F1 cars were of course eagerly awaited by the public as well as the new DTM Classic Cup; the DTM Touring cars were always very popular in Germany.
Here are a few selections from the event.

Elitch, Vanhoolandt at The Quail

September 6, 2016 By pete

[Enjoy this superb interview with Stratos owner Mark Ketcham; please ignore the unfortunate background music that was impossible to avoid or eradicate. Ed.]

Story by Brandes Elitch
Photos and videos by Hugues Vanhoolandt

Although I have attended this event for the last four or five years, I am continually amazed and delighted by the overall experience and I generally don’t use such superlatives, unless it is for a really spectacular car, motorcycle, artwork, piece of music, or woman. Regular readers will remember my column on the Quail Motorcycle show held a few months back, and my interview with organizer Gordon McCall. [Read more…] about Elitch, Vanhoolandt at The Quail

In additon to providing the wonderful ‘cars of Fangio’ which appeared in last week’s VeloceToday, Hugues took many other outstanding photos (exclusive to VeloceToday) of this year’s Goodwood Revival, which seems to get stronger every year and is now the greatest vintage car race and show on earth. Out thanks to Hugues for taking us there. Captions are unnecessary, but if you want to know more about any of these photos, just ask.
