The Autoworld Brussels museum is currently presenting an exhibition retracing the epic story of the Lancia brand through a dozen vehicles entitled “Lancia 120 Years – Innovation through Italian Design”.
From the very first models, Lancia cars distinguished themselves by their lightness, functionality and originality of design.
These are the characteristics illustrated by the models displayed here.

We’ll Always Have Paris…Like Art Buchwald, the Goldbergs will always have Paris. Geoff and his wife Lynne Remington traveled from Chicago to Paris with 130 lbs of Lancia books for the book dealers at Retro. “After the show, we did some non-car stuff in Paris – a number of museums, saw a wonderful show on the history of department stores, another one on magnificent hats (truly) that blew us away, backstage at the Opera, and exotic bakeries, after eating falafel in the Marais. It was enough to make one want to do it all over again.” Here are a few reflections.

As we related last week, we visited the Fiat Centro Storico and then had lunch at the New Holland staff canteen. It would be difficult if not impossible to find a more compelling story than that of Peter Giddings. In his youth in England, he restored a BSA three-wheeler, then a Brooklands Riley 9, and then a chain drive Frazer Nash, which he rebuilt in his living room (I say “restored” because owning these cars in England in the sixties would require continuous attention just to keep them running). He started racing the Frazer Nash in 1959, and competed in virtually every race circuit and hillclimb in England, earning his full FIA International racing license in 1961. In 1985, he raced his Alfa Romeo Monza and his P3 Alfa Scuderia Ferrari Tipo B at the Monterey Historics, and was awarded the Phil Hill trophy. [Read more…] about Lancia D 24 and D 50R
